October 26, 2013: Delusion

Note:
On this first prompt writing meeting (for me), everyone was in their top condition and soon after we finished the mandatory 25 minutes prompt writing and reading our work we were ready for more. This time it was a 15 minutes prompt writing with only one prompt idea.

PROMPT IDEA:
- Delusion

He Said, She Said

“Hello, Jo’s here.”
“Jo, I’m telling you. This time it’s real!”
“Wait, Ray? What are you talking about?”
“Aargh Jo, did you ever listen to me? It’s her, Jo, the beautiful flamenco dancer.”
“Ray? Is this the one we saw last week at the tapas place?”
“Yes Jo. I went there again yesterday. She smiled at me!”
“Whoa there Romeo. Just because she smiled doesn’t mean she’s into you.”
“Ah God Jo, this is real. I am telling you, this is real!”

“Hello, Jo’s here.”
“Jo, it’s about to go down! Haha!”
“Ray? Dude, is this about the dancer again?”
“Yes yes yes and guess who got the girl?!”
“Wait? You? How?”
“I came to the tapas every night and watched her and smiled at her, and wait for her till she comes out.”
“Ray?! Are you stalking here?!”
“Jo, she said to meet tomorrow night!! Aw yeah!!”
“Ray, be careful. I got a bad feeling about this. Are you really sure she is into you? You are not just delusional or wishful thinking?"
"Jo! I am THE MAN! Hahaha!"

*TV sound blaring in the living room*
Breaking news. M.R has been sentenced to mental institute for 5 murders, including the notorious murder of Ray Matthew in the parking lot of Black Gold Tapas on March 4. She worked as a Flamenco dancer in the tapas, and was convinced that Ray is a KGB that followed her and will take her back to Soviet. MR is reported to be a native of NJ and has never leave US. Psychiatrist said this KGB delusions prompted her to do the killing, which explains the jury's decision to put her in mental institute instead if the prison. We'll be back with more info.

Writer's Note: A member asked if my writing was influenced with the DC case, where a woman (who later found as delusional) drove to the Capitol building and got shot in consequence. I may have think about it subconsciously, but my main concern on writing this piece was how to give it a twist to trick the reader/listener: to make them think that the man was delusional when in fact it was the woman who lost her mind.
